The brief: To makeover the tired, terraced back garden into a beautiful social space to share with family and friends. A decked area to replace the old worn out flagstone and brick patio, bordered with soft planting and leading to an extended seating and cooking area. A path to improve access across the lawn with a deeper planted border circling the lawn. A mix of evergreen and deciduous shrubs, grasses and herbaceous perennials including plants which cope with some winter water logging. Drainage to be increased in the borders to improve planting ability but water-loving species to be utilised in the areas which retain water the longest during the winter. Fence to be fixed, treated and painted to tie the three different fence styles together. Shrubs to be pruned and reduced in the front garden, with some removed and transplanted to the back garden borders to increase play space for Jack and his friends in the front garden.
